How To Choose the Right Bra for Your Size & Shape

October 28, 2022

Lingerie shopping is probably one of my favorite past times. It could be because I love me a good supportive bra, or it could be because nowhere else can you find lace in such high supply, but unfortunately, most women don’t feel the same way.

Lingerie shopping is probably one of my favorite past times. It could be because I love me a good supportive bra, or it could be because nowhere else can you find lace in such high supply, but unfortunately, most women don’t feel the same way.

Choosing the right bra for your shape and size

it’s totally okay to have more than one “right” measurement, depending on the bra. “It's perfectly normal to wear multiple sizes, “especially as you change brands or styles or even times of the month. The size you wear in a strapless bra may not the size you wear in a plunge, or the size you wear in Panache may not be the size you wear in Wacoal. Don't get hung up on being one specific size. Instead, pay attention to how the bra feels on your body.”

Breast Volume

When you're on the hunt for a new bra, it's easy to get overwhelmed by the slew of options available (think strapless bras, convertible padded bras, multiway push-up bras, full coverage bras-you know the list goes on).

Finding the Perfect Bra

I would say "a bra that fits comfortably." Comfort is the most critical and challenging aspect of being a bra fitter. Some women have no problem finding comfortable styles that work. However, others struggle to find the best mix of comfort, style, and shape especially those in sizes outside the mainstream.

Some women have no problem finding comfortable styles that work. However, others struggle to find the best mix of comfort, style, and shape—especially those in sizes outside the mainstream. We receive many requests for smooth cup bras that disappear under thin or sheer fabrics but still provide discreet nipple protection. While these bras serve a purpose, they often don't offer the right levels of comfort or shape.

For me, I would prefer to show a seam than being uncomfortable with the wrong shape. Being comfortable is the advice we give.

Don’t Be Afraid to Float Around With bra Sizes

Many women are wearing uncomfortable bras that dig into their skin, slip off their shoulders, and create awkward spillage situations—and then rip them off their bodies the minute they get home. Put on A Comfortable, Well-Fitting, Non-Padded Bra. Choose the bra you feel most comfortable in--it should be snug but not dig into your sides. Your nipples should be about halfway between your elbow and shoulder. If they are lower, tighten the straps to lift.
